Rebeca Cardenas-Salinas
Hola! I grew up in south Texas, bilingual and proud of it. I've always known I wanted to make a difference in children's lives.
For years, I worked in one of the most at-risk schools in the area because I wanted to be where I was needed most. I loved watching children grow and thrive, even in the hardest circumstances. Now I bring that same dedication to Austin Bilingual Therapy.
My specialty is play therapy and sandtray therapy with children and tweens. I believe that when kids are given the right tools and the right support, they can overcome remarkable challenges. I also work with families, because healing a child means supporting the whole system around them.
I'm a certified sandtray therapist trained by Dr. Linda Homeyer at Texas State, a TBRI practitioner, and I draw on the Neuro-Sequential Model and CBT. I'm a lifelong learner who individualizes my approach for every child.
Education and Training
My education has been pretty diverse. I am a life-long learner. I earned my BS from UT, and my MEd from Texas State. As stated earlier, I was trained as a sandtray therapist(IPT-CST) at Texas State University supervised by Dr. Linda Homeyer. Also, I have training in trauma as a TBRI practitioner. In addition, I undertook level 1 training in the neuro-sequential model of education by Dr. Bruce Perry as trained by Dr. Teri Wood. Lastly, I also have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy . My training offers different and unique approaches which will be individualized for the client.
