Ph.D.
Ivonne Ocasio
Sometimes the challenges we face are more than friends and family can help us through, no matter how much they care.
I work with people who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, sad, or navigating a difficult transition. Maybe everything looks fine on the outside, but inside, things feel very different. That's a valid reason to seek support.
My approach is holistic and collaborative. Using strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and mindfulness, I help you understand what's happening, set meaningful goals, and build practical tools for change. Therapy with me is an active process. You won't just talk about what's bothering you. You'll start transforming it.
I'm a Licensed Psychologist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and a background in community psychology, health promotion, and prevention. I provide bilingual (English/Spanish) individual therapy. I'm originally from Puerto Rico, and I bring a deep understanding of Latinx experiences to my work.
Education and Training
I am a Licensed Psychologist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s degree in Community – Social Psychology, both from the University of Puerto Rico. Through my professional experience, I have been involved in community organization and development, prevention, and health education as well as in the clinical practice of psychology.
Specifically, I use strategies from different therapeutic models including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and mindfulness, among others. During the therapeutic process, the person may find helpful insights to better understand what is happening to them. With this information, they establish their therapeutic goals and start using strategies to make changes. This is an active and collaborative process between client and therapist where the client not only identifies what bothers them but begins a process of transformation.
I provide bilingual psychological services including individual therapy. I also provide educational services such as classes and coaching.
